Last spring, students in the Sociology Practicum course taught by Professor of Sociology Susan Ferguson served the community while getting real-life experience.

The Theorizing Dance and Language courge, co-taught by Professor Cynthia Hansen and Professor Emerita Celeste Miller, spent spring break in Prague exploring the cross-disciplinary collaboration between linguistics and choreography.

Ballet Des Moines debuted its performance of “See the Music (Hear the Dance)” on Feb. 20 at �����������ϳԹ� High School. The event, a collaboration with the Civic Music Association, and presented by �����������ϳԹ�, featured a company of 22 professional dancers and live musicians on stage, including the renowned Aizuri Quartet and pianist Douglas-Jayd Burn.

The original play ‘Songs of the Scarlet and Wayback’ is a “throwback party turned time travel train ride,” inspired by Poweshiek County community interviews, student archival research, performances, pageants, and parties of �����������ϳԹ�’s past. The production will officially premiere in the Flanagan Theatre on Friday, March 8, 2024.

Everybody,” written by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, is a play about the universal experience of life and death that premiered off-Broadway in 2017. A contemporary version of the 15th century morality play “Everyman,” “Everybody” explores abstract concepts through characters like Love, Evil, and Friendship.

Dance Ensemble, a 2-credit course offered in the department of Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies, is open to all students regardless of major and encourages creative expression in a collaborative and diverse environment.

The Neverland Players works with younger students in the �����������ϳԹ� community to bring the kids’ stories to life onstage.

Professor Craig Quintero’s virtual reality film, “All That Remains,” premiered at the 79th Venice Film Festival in September. This fall at �����������ϳԹ�, he is mounting a performance of “Blur” — performed for an audience of one.
